Sherlock stated it was not his responsibility to educate her, but was left astonished when Enola said he had allowed Mycroft to be cruel to their mother. With Eudoria absent, Mycroft insists on sending Enola to boarding school in spite of Enola's pleas to the contrary. Enola's brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock, arrive at their home to investigate the disappearance, and conclude that she left on her own. On Enola's sixteenth birthday, she awakes to discover her mother, Eudoria is missing.
